Article by Stanley Kennedy, Ship Rider SMCP at Strike Group LLC

Maybe I am wrong. But I believe that many Americans are either against the various missions and engagements of our military or choose to not think about it. In point of fact, in our present day, military service men and women are carrying out the political goals of our leaders and serving with honor and great personal sacrifice.

SACRIFICE. It takes many forms. From the potential, and actual, loss of life, limbs, and other physical maladies to uncomfortable living conditions. Long separations (as many as 8 and 9 months) from family and friends, with spotty communications. Leaving those spouses and family members behind to attend to life without the service member present. Often in situations that don't allow the service member to be present at funerals of loved ones, or a spouse that is admitted to a hospital with a life or death illness.

And there is personal SACRIFICE by those that are left behind. Let us not forget that. Spousal support and dependence on each other. The child who is missing a mom or dad.

So when you do see a service member and thank them for their service, also thank them for their SACRIFICE. And say a prayer for these men and women.
